Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and US Vice President Mike Pence got together at the White House on 09 November 2017 to discuss various issues such as visa crisis, withdrawal of weapons provided to YPG and PYD, Fethullah Gulen’s extradition to Turkey and the situation about Reza Sarraf. Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak, Turkey’s Ambassador to Washington Serdar Kilic and Prime Minister Yıldırım’s Foreign Affairs Kerim Uras and other officials attended the meeting, as well.
After the meeting which lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes the White House released the following statement:
“The two leaders have expressed they hope the meeting will help open a new page in US-Turkish relations and they agree that constructive dialogue is needed as friendly and allied countries in the face of common challenges. The two leaders, underlining the stability and security of the US and Turkey’s common interests in the Middle East, have agreed to continue intergovernmental consultations in this context. Deputy US Vice President Pence has thanked Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım for Turkey’s fight against ISİD and its contributions to global security and stressed that the United States stands on the side of Turkey against the PKK and other terrorist threats.
