Culture Road Festivals Boost Local Economy

Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, stated that the Culture Road Festivals have significantly contributed to the economy of the cities where they are held. Speaking at a press briefing in Kayseri, Ersoy emphasized that hotels reached full capacity during the festivals and that local businesses saw unprecedented sales.

According to Ersoy, the impact is both cultural and economic. “We see that the festivals reflect very positively on the city’s economy and tourism. There is intense traffic, first from within the city itself and then from neighboring cities and even major metropolitan areas,” he explained.

Hotels Fully Booked and Businesses Thriving

The minister highlighted the feedback received from hoteliers and local shopkeepers. “When we speak with sector representatives, we learn that hotels remain completely full throughout the festival. In our meetings with local businesses after the events, many of them report achieving one to three months’ worth of turnover in just nine days. They are extremely pleased, and this motivates us even further,” he said.

Culture Road Festivals as an Economic Engine

Ersoy underlined that the festivals are not only about cultural enrichment but also about economic growth. The influx of tourists and visitors generates revenue for hotels, restaurants, and small businesses, turning the festivals into a major driver of local prosperity.
