Turkish schools operating under the Ministry of National Education in Saudi Arabia will start serving again. According to the statement by Turkey’s Ministry of Education, it was recalled that Turkish schools operating in the capital Riyadh and other regions had gradually closed as of the end of the 2020-2021 academic year by the decision of the Saudi Arabian administration. According to the statement, schools operating under the ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia will be reopened with the diplomatic contacts of the Turkish government and the initiatives of the Ministry of Education.

The situation of schools was also raised during a bilateral meeting with the minister of education of Saudi Arabia within the framework of the education summit, which was attended by Minister of National Education Mahmut Ozer in the French capital Paris.

As a result of the contacts of the authorities of the two countries, the work on student admissions and other procedures for schools that have been decided to reopen will begin soon.

Relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia were strained after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi in 2018, and this tension was reflected in many areas, including education. As a result of this, Turkish schools in the country were closed.
