According to a US Department of Defense (Pentagon) study, the risk of transmitting the corona virus from ventilation systems on planes is “very low”. The research supports the results of previous studies that air conditioning systems on aircraft effectively filter air and block infected particles.

But the study did not take into account the risks of contracting other viruses, such as smearing towards people on the plane or surface transmission.

According to research based on the assumption that all on aircraft wear masks, 0.003 percent of air particles in breathing areas can be contagious, even if all the seats are full.

In the study, which used Boeing 777 and 767 model planes, it was found that close to 99.99 percent of the particles were filtered thanks to fast airflow.

It was also calculated that in order to receive a dose of the virus that would cause infection, a passenger would have to fly for 54 hours on a plane with a sick passenger.

The study concluded that if the plane had a Corona positive passenger, the risk of contracting Covid-19 was almost non-existent.
