The Meteoroloji Genel Müdürlüğü (Directorate) has issued yellow code warnings for three provinces, signaling the arrival of the season’s first major cold front. According to the forecast, much of the country will experience cloudy skies, strong winds, and widespread rain. In higher elevations of the northeast, especially in the interior of the Black Sea region and eastern Anatolia, the rain will turn into snow.
Rainfall is expected to be heavy in parts of the Western and Eastern Black Sea, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, and in the provinces of Ordu, Tokat, Sivas, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Adana and Hatay. Temperatures across northern, central and eastern regions will drop by 6 to 10 degrees below seasonal averages, marking a sharp transition into colder weather.
Winds will blow from the north and northwest in most areas, and from the south in the east, sometimes reaching 40 to 60 km/h. The strongest gusts are expected in the southern Aegean, inland Mediterranean, southern Central Anatolia, the central Black Sea coast, and eastern Anatolia.
Special Focus on Istanbul, Muğla and Antalya
İstanbul will see mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers from midday onward. Temperatures will hover around 19°C, and residents are advised to be cautious during rainfall hours.
Muğla will remain partly cloudy with temperatures around 20°C, but strong northerly winds may create a noticeable chill.
Antalya is forecast to stay partly cloudy with a high near 27°C, remaining one of the warmest regions in the country. Despite this, winds from the north may intensify at times, bringing cooler air inland.
Cold and Rainy Conditions Sweep Across the Country
In Marmara, cloudy skies and scattered showers will dominate the afternoon, particularly in the east of the region. In the Aegean, partly to mostly cloudy conditions are expected, with strong northerly winds over the southern coast. In the Mediterranean, heavy showers will impact Adana’s eastern districts, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye and Hatay’s coastline, accompanied by gusty winds.
Central Anatolia will see cloudy skies and scattered rain, with Sivas receiving locally intense rainfall in the morning. The Black Sea region faces widespread rain, with strong downpours along the coast and snow in higher elevations. Ordu, Tokat and the eastern parts of the region may experience severe weather conditions. Southeastern Anatolia is expected to turn cloudy through the day with showers spreading by afternoon and intensifying in the evening, particularly in Diyarbakır, Gaziantep and Mardin.
Official Warnings from Meteorology
Meteorologists warn of possible disruptions due to heavy rain, such as localized flooding, landslides and transportation delays. Strong winds may also lead to hazardous travel conditions, especially in coastal and elevated areas.
Citizens in the affected regions are advised to remain alert, follow official weather bulletins, and take precautions against sudden weather changes.
