Why do airlines cancel so many flights?

Disruptions to flights due to staff shortages at airports in Europe force many airline companies to review its flights as well and the passengers eventually have to face many cancellations, unluckily.

Corendon is one of these airlines to provide an example. According to a report in a German business and tourism magazine, Corendon had to cancel 15 percent of touristic flights and 15 percent of ethnic flights. It was noted that the flight cancellations will affect flights from Germany to Turkey, Spain, Greece and Portugal.

“The situation at airports disproportionately affects flights”

Noting that the company tries to compensate for the high corona cases among the crew and delays in the delivery of newly ordered aircraft by leasing aircraft and personnel, Corendon Airlines shared, however, that delays caused by shortage of personnel, especially at major airports in Europe, disproportionately complicated operations.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Corendon Airlines, said: “We are sorry to have taken such a decision due to problems in European air traffic that are beyond our control and we apologize to everyone affected by this situation.”

Other airline companies also make flight cancellations

NOTE: Due to staff shortages at European and UK airports, several airlines, including easyJet, Lufthansa and Eurowings, cancelled some of their summer season flights, too.
