Dmitri Peskov, spokesman for the Russian President Vladimir Putin informed that Putin would be talking to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this evening and that the parties would discuss the situation in the Middle East, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement about Jerusalem. On the other hand, Peskov said that the US decision was of a nature to make the situation in the Middle East, more complicated.

In his statement Peskov said “We are expecting Putin to make a phone call to Erdogan tonight.

A truly important issue will be discussed and the situation in the Middle East following the announcement of the US President regarding the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem, will be put on the table.

Earlier, Trump stated that he regarded Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and signed a document on the embassy’s move to Jerusalem.

Responding to the questions of members of the press, Peskov said Trump’s decision would not provide a solution in the Middle East, but instead climb the tension in the region.

“We are worried that there will be tension in the region following Trump’s declaration, and we do not think it will contribute to the solution in the Middle East. On the contrary, it will lead to disagreements among members of the international community,” Peskov said.
