Turkey extends 21 billion dollars of financial aid to 170 countries between 2010 and 2016

It is reported that Turkey has provided US$ 21 billion in financial aid to 170 countries between 2010 and 2016. In this period, the largest official development aid was made to Syria with 13 billion 666 million dollars. During the period 2010-2016 found $ 21 billion in financial aid to 170 countries. Based on said report, 62 percent of foreign aid was made to Syria, 9.54 percent to African countries, 5.44 percent to Turkic republics, 4.3 percent to Balkan countries and the remaining to other countries.

In 2011, the anti-regime demonstrations in Syria had turned into a civil war and the Syrian economy had remained in a difficult situation. In this period Turkey provide a financial assistance of USD 13 billion 666 million for development. Last year only, financial aid to Syria amounted to USD 5 billion 851 million.

The top 10 countries that benefited most from Turkey’s “bilateral official development assistance” last year were Syria, Somalia, Palestine, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Kazakhstan, was Azerbaijan and Nigeria.

During the period between 2010-2016 Turkey provided funds worth USD 603.4 million to the Turkish republic of Kyrgyzstan, USD 281 million dollars to Kazakhstan, USD 157 million dollars to Azerbaijan, USD 79.4 million to Turkmenistan, USD 47.4 million to Uzbekistan and US$ 24 million to Tajikistan as official development assistance.

In same period countries such as Somalia (USD 750 million dollars), Afghanistan (USD 634 million) and Egypt were among countries that received foreign aid from Turkey as development assistance.

Thus, Turkey realized a total financial aid of USD 21 billion to 170 countries for development in 7 years.
