Turkey to allocate largest portion of 2018 budget for education and defense

Turkey’s Finance Minister Naci AGBAL has stated that education sector will use largest part of the 2018 budget, while defense ranks second in the line. AGBAL declared that Turkey’s budget expenditures are expected to reach 762.8 billion liras (208 billion dollars) in 2018 with income to reach TL 696.8 billion(USD 191 billion) and tax revenues to reach 600 billion liras (USD 164.5 billion).

AGBAL declared that Turkey’s budget expenditures are expected to reach 762.8 billion liras (208 billion dollars) in 2018 with income to reach TL 696.8 billion(USD 191 billion) and tax revenues to reach 600 billion liras (USD 164.5 billion).

At a press conference to announce details of the 2018 draft budget, the Minister stated that the major portion in the 2018 budget would be allocated for educational expenditure as usual, “the press conference explains, details of the 2018 budget proposal in Ankara.

The draft budget was sent to the cabinet by the Ministry of Finance on October 16. AGBAL said the government would increase education expenditures to TL 134 billion (over USD 37 billion), including investments of 14.3 billion liras (USD 3.97 billion), which is about 18 percent of total public investment.

“In other words” AGBAL added “we will spend 22 liras of every 100 liras collected as a tax for education”.
