The Turkish Armed Forces have launched a drill this morning near the Habur Border Gate at the zero point of the Iraqi border, just before the independence referendum which the Kurdish Regional Government in Iraq is scheduled to realize on September 25th 2017. Approximately 100 military vehicles are participating in the field, which is located opposite a TIR park at said spot.

The Chief of General Staff has announced that the drill was launched in the Silopi-Habur region this morning and that combat operations were also carried out simultaneously with the exercise in the border region. The drill is taking place on the grounds opposite the TIR park between Silopi and Habur Border Gate 15 kilometers away. Approximately 100 military vehicles are participating in the drill, the vast majority of which are tanks. The military vehicles deployed at the Hajj Accomodation Facilities, located 7 kilometers from the Habur Border Gate, started exercising early in the morning.

Roads were partly blocked due to participation of vehicles carrying 4-missile ramps. It was seen that the soldiers transferred the images taken using Drone to the drill center. The tanks are observed to be constantly maneuvering.

It was noteworthy that the exercise started following the decision taken by the Kurdish Parliament to go ahead with the independence referendum for Kurdistan State on September 25th.
