40 Percent hike in transportation fee in Istanbul

PRICE HIKE IN TRANSPORTATION IN ISTANBUL

The proposal for a 40 percent hike in transportation in Istanbul was unanimously accepted. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center has met with the agenda of concerned hike for the third time since March due to the historic increase in fuel costs.

The increase demanded by public transport tradesmen due to exorbitantly increased fuel prices was rejected by the votes of the majority government representatives at the sessions on March 23 and  April 4.

IBB (Istanbul Municipality) management held a UKOME meeting two days after the rejection decision issued at the session on April 4. The session was chaired by IMM Secretary General Can Akın CAGLAR.

40 percent increase in transportation fees accepted this time

At the meeting, the raise proposal prepared by the IBB administration was revised and submitted to the vote after the negotiations this time. The new offer SUGGESTED a raise of about 40 percent. The proposal was accepted. The last hike to transportation in Istanbul was made on January 1, 2022.
