Breaking News… Alarming earthquakes in Adana and Çanakkale

According to a statement from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck Ayvacık, Çanakkale. Later, at 20:07, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 occurred in Kozan, Adana.

The earthquake in the Aegean Sea, centered in Ayvacık, Çanakkale, was reported to have a magnitude of 4.3 and occurred at 17:56, with a depth of 9.02 kilometers according to AFAD.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE

Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman commented on social media, stating, “Regarding the earthquake in the Aegean Sea, no adverse reports have been received by our relevant units so far. Our scanning and monitoring activities continue.”

5.0 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE IN ADANA

At 20:07, another earthquake struck Adana. AFAD announced that the earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.0, was centered in Kozan, Adana, at a depth of 20.13 kilometers. No official statements about casualties or damages have been made yet.

MINISTER YERLİKAYA: NO ADVERSE SITUATION

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, “A 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Adana’s Kozan district and was felt in nearby provinces. All teams from AFAD and relevant institutions immediately began field assessments. Currently, no adverse situation has been reported. I extend my best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake and pray for the protection of our nation from disasters.” Adana Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger also remarked, “There are currently no adverse conditions in our province, and our monitoring activities are ongoing.”
