Horrifying Trap for a Tourist Woman in Istanbul: Forced Into Sexual Acts and Recorded

A tourist woman, traveling alone in Istanbul, faced a nightmare after meeting a man claiming to be a police officer on social media. While their first meeting ended without major incident, the situation took a dark turn months later when she returned to Turkey. This time, she was ambushed by the man and his friends, forced into non-consensual acts, recorded, and later blackmailed. After being coerced into sex with multiple men, she finally ended her ordeal by reporting the crime to the authorities.

First Meeting
In 2021, Suheir W. (25), a tourist visiting Istanbul, connected with Uğur B. (31), a police officer, through Tinder. Introducing himself as “Fatih,” he met her in a hotel room, where they engaged in consensual acts. Suheir then returned to her home country.

Return to Turkey and Coercion
Months later, Suheir came back to Turkey and met Uğur again at his request. This time, he brought along another officer, Fatih Ö. (33). Allegedly, Uğur recorded their encounter without her consent, while Fatih pressured her for a sexual relationship.

Blackmail and Exploitation
When Suheir demanded the footage be deleted, Uğur used it to blackmail her. Under threat, she was forced into sex work and reportedly coerced into relations with seven men.

Seeking Justice
Unable to endure the trauma any longer, Suheir reported the incidents to the police, accusing Uğur and others of blackmail, threats, and coercion.

The Investigation and Court Proceedings

Suspect Defenses
Uğur denied the accusations, claiming their relationship was consensual and stating he couldn’t recall recording any videos. Fatih similarly alleged that all interactions were voluntary and dismissed Suheir’s claims as baseless.

Charges and Sentencing
Prosecutors charged the suspects with “simple sexual assault,” “threatening with a weapon,” “blackmail,” and “promoting prostitution,” seeking 24 years of imprisonment. The indictment acknowledged that some acts were consensual but highlighted strong evidence of coercion in others.

Verdict
The court sentenced Uğur B. and Fatih Ö. to 1 year and 8 months in prison for “violating the right to privacy.” Other suspects, Mehmet A. and Sercan Ç., were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
