Interior Ministry Issues APP License Plate and Multimedia Screen Warning: Starts April 1

The Interior Ministry has responded to claims that the deadline for fines on APP license plates would be postponed until April 1.

Hasan Öymez, the Press Advisor for the Interior Ministry, spoke about the traffic law regulations and the rumors regarding extended deadlines for APP plates. He clarified that there will be no change in the period allowed to replace plates deemed illegal under the law.

 “140,000 TL Fines Will Be Issued”

Öymez stated, “From April 1 onwards, 140,000 TL fines will be applied for fake license plates. There will be no postponement. Plates issued through TŞOF, even if flawed, will not be fined. These will be replaced according to the process. Standards for multimedia screens and speaker/audio systems will be determined by an upcoming regulation.”

Official Statement from the Ministry

The Interior Ministry released an official note to inform the public about the latest traffic regulations:

Starting April 1, anyone using fake license plates (printed outside TŞOF and not meeting security standards) will face a definitive fine of 140,000 TL, with no postponement.

Even if a plate was printed incorrectly, if it was issued by the Turkey Drivers and Automobile Federation (TŞOF), no fines will be applied. These plates will be replaced within the designated period.

Meanwhile, technical standards for multimedia screens and speaker/audio systems in vehicles will be clarified in a regulation to be published soon.
