Turkey Plans to buy 40 Eurofighter Typhoon Fighter Jets from the UK

Turkey is planning to acquire 40 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, which will be sourced from the UK. Currently using F-16 and F-4 fighter jets, the Turkish Air Force aims to enhance its capabilities with the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.

In a statement by the Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, following was shared: “We want to buy Eurofighters, a very effective aircraft, and Germany objects. The UK and Spain say we will resolve it.”

When asked about whether the existing combat aircraft in the Turkish Armed Forces are sufficient for their missions, Güler replied aas follows: “Our F-16s and F-4s are sufficient for the tasks we undertake.”

MINISTER: “WE’RE LOOKING AHEAD AND EXPLORING ALTERNATIVES”

He went on to say, “However, of course, we are looking ahead. Initially, we applied for the F-35 for the future, but there were some problems with the F-35. We are exploring alternatives. For the modernization of our F-16s, we will purchase 40 units from the F-16 Block 70 Viper, and we will perform the modernization of 79 units ourselves at TUSAŞ.”
