Number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey increases by 32.55 percent in January-April

It was reported the number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey had increased by 32.55 percent in January-April (2018) period as compared to same period last year. The increase in April 2018 only, was calculated at 28.27 percent as compared to April 2017.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism made a written statement in which it mentioned the records regarding performance of tourism continued in April as well.

Turkey which hosted 7 million 783 thousand 967 foreign visitors in first four months of the year, received another 2 million 655 thousand 561 foreigners in April 2018. On average 99.5 percent of foreigners coming to Turkey in January-April period visited this country for touristic purposes.

In January April period, Turkey received the highest number of foreign visitors from Iran with 858 thousand people followed by Germany with 671,000 visitors and Georgia with 651,000 visitors.

In April on the other hand Russia ranked number in number of coming tourists to Turkey with 293,000 followed by Germany with 255,000 visitors and Bulgaria with 202,000 visitors – figures are rounded up.
