2022 femicide report: 334 women were murdered last year

“We will Stop the Murders of Women” Platform shared the data that 334 women had been killed in 2022 and 245 women had been found dead suspiciously. According to the report, most murders were committed by men close to killed women. Most murders were committed at homes.

We will Stop Women’s Murders Platform (KCDP) published the report for “Women Murders in 2022”. In the statement made by the KCDP, it was recalled that they had been compiling femicide data since 2010 and said, “The only year in which femicide decreased in these past 12 years was the year 2011, when the Istanbul Convention was signed. Since the discussions about the Istanbul Convention started, there has been an increase in women’s murders and suspicious deaths. In 2022, which we spent without a contract in Istanbul, there was a big increase in female murders and suspicious female deaths. When it was so clear that many women survived when the Istanbul Convention was effectively implemented, the political power withdrew its signature from the Istanbul Convention.”

334 WOMEN KILLED IN TURKEY IN 2022

According to the KDCP’s report, 334 women were killed in 2022. There were 245 suspicious female deaths. Between 2020 and 2022, 914 women were killed by men. 632 women were found suspiciously dead.

334 of 334 women killed in the year 2022 was murdered by husbands. 35 were killed by partners, 27 were killed by ex-partners and 26 by relatives. 19 were killed by ex-partners.
