The Greek islands have long been a favorite summer getaway for Turkish tourists, and as the 2025 travel season approaches, the full cost of visiting these dreamy destinations is becoming clear. With the continued availability of the visa at the port system for certain islands, travel remains possible even without a Schengen visa—provided visitors meet the updated requirements.
Visa at the Port: Required Documents and Cost
According to CNBC-e, travelers planning to visit select Greek islands via ferry under the visa at the port scheme will need to prepare a list of documents ahead of their journey. These include:
- A completed visa application form
- A scanned copy of the passport’s first page
- Copies of any previous Schengen visas (if applicable)
- A scanned copy of both sides of the national ID
- A biometric photo
- Travel health insurance valid for the duration of the trip
- A bank statement from the last 3 months
- Round-trip ferry ticket
- Hotel reservation confirmation
- A formal letter requesting a visa at the port
Cost and Conditions of the Visa
The visa fee is €85 for adults and €20 for children aged 0–18. This visa is valid for a single entry and allows for a maximum stay of 6 nights and 7 days. Each trip requires a separate visa application—even if you’re returning to the same island.
Importantly, this visa only grants access to the island you applied for. Travel to mainland Greece is not permitted, and those with a Northern Cyprus (KKTC) passport stamp or a previously rejected Schengen visa will not be eligible. The visa fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, including rejection or missing the ferry.
2025 Ferry Prices Announced
For those ready to set sail, İDO has released its 2025 summer season ferry fares. Round-trip ticket prices are as follows:
- Seferihisar to Samos: €40
- Kuşadası to Samos: €55
- Dikili to Lesbos (Midilli): €45
These relatively affordable ferry routes, combined with the ease of a visa at the port, continue to make the Greek islands a tempting and accessible escape for Turkish travelers—so long as the paperwork is in order.
