51,800 Tons of Red Meat Production in April 2011

red_meat_turkeyTUIK (Statistics Institute of Turkey) declared red meat production quantity for April 2011.

Production of red meat went up by 2,3 percent as compared to last month and down by 12,9 percent compared to April last year.

The total production  which was 59,508 tons in April last year, became 51,812 tons in April 2011.

44,878 tons of this quantity was beef production and 5,677 tons was sheep production.

The Turkish husbandry has been suffering big diffciulties for some time now and some farms belonging to big companies like KOÇ group have closed down.

The government is expected to provide incentives somehow to avoid further losses and collapse of the sector.
