57 percent of tourists visiting Turkey prefer to make payments with cards

A survey conducted by Visa has provided significant insights into the preferences and spending habits of foreign tourists visiting Turkey. Based on 2023 Global Travel Trends Survey results realized by said company Turkey is an appealing destination, particularly for travelers from Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Middle Eastern countries.

The survey revealed that 4 out of 10 foreign tourists plan to revisit Turkey within the next 12 months. Key factors making the country attractive include delicious cuisine (54%), budget-friendly options (42%), and attractive shopping opportunities (41%). Turkey is especially favored by families with children.

Card and contactless transactions preferred for payments

According to the research, 57% of tourists prefer making payments with cards. The main reasons for choosing card usage include widespread card acceptance, the validity of cards at ATMs, and personal preference. Of those using cards, 83% prefer making contactless payments.

Average spending per trip is $2,900

According to same survey, foreign tourists visiting Turkey spend an average of $2,900 per trip. Families traveling with children over 12 years old make the highest average spending per trip, reaching $4,015.
