6 Million Lira Fine for Renting Homes for Tourism Without a Permit
In Muğla’s Fethiye district, 42 homeowners who were operating without the required tourism rental permit were fined a total of 6,045,060 Turkish Lira.
The inspections were carried out by the Fethiye Tourism Information Office to ensure compliance with the regulation requiring a tourism rental permit for short-term home rentals.
It was discovered that some individuals tried to evade detection by presenting their daily or weekly rentals as part of fake “long-term contracts exceeding 100 days.”
During the inspections, 42 villas were found to be rented out illegally and without permits, and fines totaling 6,045,060 TL were imposed on the owners.
According to the regulation:
- A first offense results in a 143,930 TL fine per property.
- A second offense increases the fine to 719,650 TL per property.
- A third offense brings a fine of 1,439,300 TL per property.
In addition, those found to be falsely claiming rentals under “contracts exceeding 100 days” to avoid the law will also face a fine of 1,439,300 TL per incident.
