6-month inflation in Turkey announced, pension increase rates for civil servants, retirees determined

The eagerly awaited six-month inflation figures for millions of civil servants and retirees have been revealed. According to TURKSTAT (Turkish Statistical Institute) data, inflation for the last six months of 2023 was realized at a rate of 37.56 percent. Thus, the salary increase rates for civil servants and retirees are also determined.

After the minimum wage, attention has now turned to the salary increase for civil servants and retirees.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced the inflation data for the whole of 2023 and December. With TURKSTAT’s inflation data, the salary increase for retirees and civil servants is also clear. According to TURKSTAT data, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 64.77 percent annually and 2.93 percent monthly.

INCREASE RATE FOR RETIREE PENSIONS IS DETERMINED

In July, August, September, October, November, and December of 2023, inflation was realized at 37.56 percent. Thus, the salary increase rate for retired workers (SSK), retired artisans and farmers (BAĞ-KUR), as well as civil servants and retired civil servants, is also determined.

For SSK and Bağkur retired pensions, the inflation difference or increase for the six-month period is revealed as 37.56 percent. In addition to the six-month inflation difference, expectations for a prosperity bonus and a fixed increase (as an addition) are also on the agenda for retirees.

CIVIL SERVANT SALARY INCREASE RATES

Civil servants and retired civil servants will receive a 31.5 percent inflation difference in addition to the 15 percent contractual increase.

A 6 percent collective bargaining increase was made to civil servant salaries and retired civil servant pensions in July. Therefore, the 6 percent collective bargaining increase in July was offset against the six-month inflation.
