6 Tons of counterfeit alcoholic beverages caught in Istanbul

In Istanbul, a total of 6 tons of counterfeit alcoholic beverages were seized during an operation conducted by authorities. The operation targeted illegal production and distribution taking place in the Esenyurt and Silivri districts, with the seized drinks valued at 10 million Turkish Lira.

The key suspect was apprehended while using a fake identity. He had previously been caught multiple times for the same crime and was wanted for a total of 15 different offenses, including six counts of “intentional homicide,” five counts of “violating the smuggling law,” and various other crimes related to food safety and violence.

Same person has a lengthy criminal record, with his past offenses dating from 2020 to 2022. Following his arrest, he was taken to the police station for processing and was subsequently remanded in custody by the judicial authorities after the completion of his questioning. This operation marks a significant crackdown on illegal alcohol trafficking in the region.
