Accommodation tax is on the way after TBMM accepts new tax package

A bill which includes regulations such as Digital Service Tax, Accommodation Tax, Valuable House Tax, and the addition of new tranches and rates to the income tax tariff, was adopted by the TBMM (Turkish National Grand Assembly) Plan and Budget Commission.

The proposal introduces a new tax called “Accommodation Tax”. Accommodation services to be provided at facilities such as hotel, motel, holiday village, pension, apart hotel, guest house and camping facilities and rural tourism facilities such as mountain and plateau houses will be subject to accommodation tax.

Accordingly, accommodation tax per person per night will be 18 lira for 5-star hotels and holiday resorts (villages) , 12 lira for 4-star hotels and holidays resorts, 9 lira for 3-star hotels and municipal certified accommodation facilities, 6 lira for2 and one-star hotels, hostels, motels, 6 liras for apart hotels and camps, 18 liras for boutique hotels and private accommodation facilities.

Accommodation services provided to children under 12 years of age will be exempt from this tax.
