Alanya: Favorite holiday town of local and foreign tourists on the southern coast of Turkey

ALANYA CASTLE

Alanya, the important tourism center of the Mediterranean, continues to be the center of attention of domestic and foreign tourists with its attractive activities, places to see, ancient values, colorful nightlife, early opening and late closing season and immaculate sea.

Growing and developing a little more every year, Alanya’s 6.5 km long castle, surrounded by city walls, has about 110 bastions and the walls are flooded with tourists who want to watch the magnificent view of Alanya.

HOLIDAY IN ALANYA

Alanya which has more than 160 thousand beds welcomes tourists who settle on the sandy beach that stretches for kilometers from the early hours after breakfast and enjoy the sea during the day under the Mediterranean sun. Those who have a good time water skiing, jet skiing, parachuting, banana, kayaking, water biking or reading books under sun umbrellas, often skip lunch and prepare for the evening. In addition to those who prefer the beach or hotel pools, those who want to go to the sea on boats waiting in the harbor have the opportunity to see different places, bays with the advantage of the breeze on the sea and swim without being overwhelmed by day trips.

BOAT TOURS

The first stopover of the boats on the daily dinner tours is in front of the ancient shipyard located outside the port. Passengers have the opportunity to swim by watching the historical icon of Alanya, the Red Tower, the shores of Alanya in the bay with the sea that is immaculately clean and the bottom of which is clearly visible. Boats that anchor again after the break, collectively go to the Pirates Cave, Phosphorescent Cave, Lovers Cave, see the ancient mint, take a swimming break on Cleopatra beach, on the outskirts of the castle and around the newly built marina. While some boats continue their way to Incekum, some go to the dolphin! Those who abandon themselves to the immaculately warm and salty waters of the Mediterranean cool off in the open sea.

SPOTS TO SEE IN ALANYA

In Alanya, tourists should not neglect to see the Red Tower, Shipyard, Alanya Castle, Alanya Museum, Damlataş Cave. Especially the Red Tower attracts an influx of visitors with its being in the city center and its mysterious state.

The Red Tower: Those who go up to the tower terrace with the stairs in the interesting architecture of the tower, which is used as an exhibition gallery on the ground floor decked out with lighting effects, take lots of memory photos here and watch Alanya from the top through the bastions. The narrow path that leaves from the side of the Red Tower reaches Tophane, the inner castle district where there are many old Alanya houses.  During short breaks given at the cafes and buffets located here, there is the opportunity to relax by watching the port, drinking toast, a brewed tea, a cold soft drink.

Starting from the direction of Antalya and continuing to the Gazipasa coast, Alanya Castle, located on the top of the peninsula, divides the district into two with accommodation and entertainment centers on the coastal strip and is one of the indispensable sightseeing places for visitors.

Alanya Lighthouse: One of the most enjoyable places to walk in Alanya may be to walk on the breakwater in the continuation of the Red Tower, taking the sea on one side and the Alanya coast on one side, looking around from a height. It is more breezy and iodine-scented than other places, the clean air along the breakwater, the general view of the Alanya coast stretching to the castle, even taking photos of the boats entering and leaving the port, it is relaxing to watch.

Alanya Castle: A completely different atmosphere is experienced at sunset in Alanya, which has the appearance of an almost huge fair city. For calm, pleasant, cool excursions, those who come out of the bazaar or Damlataş cave to Alanya Castle in the evening hours, see the Byzantine church, cisterns, castle bastions inside the castle, walk on the castle walls.

Damlataş Cave: One of the places to visit in the center of Alanya is Damlataş cave, where multi-colored stalactites and stalagmites are decorated.

The five-eyed Shipyard, the Alanya museum, where artifacts belonging to the Byzantine, Roman, Hellenistic civilizations are exhibited, the Atatürk Museum House, the Kuyularönü Mosque in the center, which attracts attention with its interesting interior and exterior modern architecture, stand out as other sightseeing and visiting places to see.

SHOPPING IN ALANYA

Shopping in the Bazaar on Fridays is another pleasure in Alanya. Bazaars, where there are permanent open shops, boutiques, jewelers, carpenters, leather gift shops, are among the places where tourists from various parts of the world cannot leave.

Alanya, which opens the tourist season on April 1, experiences summer until November. The district, which is inhabited all year round with the interest of foreign guests, does not encounter seasonal events such as cold and snow.

CAVES IN ALANYA

Dim Cave: Whether the weather conditions are rainy or cold, you can go to the Dim cave in the beautiful district of Antalya, Alanya, where you will not feel cold at all. Dim Cave is a natural cave formed along the cracks and crevices caused by rainwater in Limestone rocks. The groundwater that shaped the cave in the last geological time period has descended to an even deeper depth today, that is, to the level of the Dim stream. Dim cave, it is estimated that its age, like other karst caves in Turkey, will be about 1 million years.

Dim cave is 360 m long and 10-15 m wide. It is located 232 meters above sea level. With the richness of the damlatash formations and ponds in it, it has the distinction of being the number one cave in Europe and the second largest cave in Turkey.
