Announcement from Health Minister: Delta plus seen in 3 provinces in Turkey
Breaking news… Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced Delta plus variant has been seen in 3 provinces, with Istanbul among them.
Health Minister Koca answered questions from members of the press after yesterday’s cabinet meeting.
In reply to questions from press he said; “No extra measures will be implemented on Eid al-Adha. Delta plus was seen in 3 people in 3 provinces. These people were not vaccinated with no contact with each other. Delta variant numbers are increasing, already up to 284. Our number of provinces is also increasing, it has reached 30.We will soon have to open 3rd dose for people, including the mayors who have been at critical spots.”
PROVINCES WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF CASES DECLINING
In the last week, the number of cases has decreased the most in following provinces; Gümüşhane, Eskişehir, Artvin, Denizli and Bartın. The end of the epidemic will come with the vaccine. Make your vaccine so that tomorrow is safer than today.
TURKEY’S VACCINE SUPPLY
After a supply problem with Sinovac vaccines from China, the Ministry of Health entered into a new purchase agreement with Pfizer/BioNTech.
Pfizer and BioNTech said in a statement that 90 million doses of additional vaccines will be supplied to Turkey, including 30 million doses with an option, on top of the 30 million doses agreed in the previous agreement.
In total, 120 million doses of the vaccine are expected to be distributed in 2021, the statement said.
