Another major hike in alcohol and cigarette prices on the way

A “bandrol” (monopoly tax label) hike has been added to the next PPI (UFE: production price index) hike in the new year for drinks and cigarettes. Bandrol will likely see a hike of at least 40 percent and SCT of 28 percent.

According to a reporter from SOZCU newspaper, at the beginning of the year, both alcoholic beverages and cigarettes will be subject to a double hike in the rate of the “Domestic Producer Price Index “(YI-PPI), as well as an increase in the Excise Tax (Excise DUTY). At the end of 2020, bandrol prices were increased by 100 to 400 percent, which transferred a large amount of resources to related company. Immediately 3 months after that, another 25 percent hike was made to the bandrol fees at the beginning of 2021. It was learned that the “Mint and Stamp Printing House” are preparing to raise bandrol prices by 40 percent to 50 percent this time as of the beginning of 2022.
