Armed Attack on U.S. Embassy in Lebanon

Amid rising tensions in Lebanon due to the war in Gaza and the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, the U.S. Embassy in Beirut was attacked this morning. A small group of individuals opened fire on the embassy building. During the incident, one attacker was injured and subsequently detained, while two others managed to escape.
Lebanese army forces stationed in the area engaged in a firefight with the attackers. Lebanese media reported that the captured assailant is a Syrian national. No injuries were reported among the embassy staff.
U.S. Urges Israel to Avoid Escalation with Hezbollah
In the context of the ongoing conflict, the U.S. has urged Israel to avoid escalating tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon, especially before finalizing a potential prisoner exchange deal with Hamas. According to Israeli state television KAN, this request from the U.S. is not new but has gained urgency due to the possibility of reaching an agreement on prisoner swaps in the coming days.
