Attention grabbing message from KILICDAROGLU, Turkey’s opposition leader

Speaking at the launch of the Teksin Mersin project, CHP leader KILICDAROGLU said: “We want to bring a new understanding to politics in Turkey… A mature understanding of politics, an understanding of politics that is accountable to the public. We started with local administrations and we’re going to expand that. We are ready to be held accountable in an unacountable environment (meaning currently) and we volunteer for it.”

CHP leader KILICDAROGLU also shared following:

WE NEED TO CLEAN UP POLLUTED POLITICS

“We all know the conditions prevailing in Turkey. Sometimes politics gets so dirty that we have to clean it up. They did a lot of defamation before the election (meaning local elections). “don’t vote for the CHP mayor, if you vote, your benefits (social support etc) will be cut, they won’t serve you” they said. This frame (slogan) had to be broken.”

“To start off with, elections were won. As a second phase, this  negative discourse was swept away. Moreover, during the pandemic, the incomes of the mayors (CHP mayors) were reduced to a minimum. Just like the people of Mersin saw it, the citizens at places where our other mayors served also saw the truth.”

“Leave alone cutting aid (to citizens), on the contrary, social support has substantially increased. Our mayors delivered disinfectants and masks free of charge to all the people of the town. This is because we have made “serving the public” our fundamental principle.”

WE STARTED WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

“We started with local governments and we’re going to expand this development. In Turkey, we want to build a new understanding of politics, a new Turkey where everyone sits peacefully at home, watches TV , goes out on the streets, goes to a cinema, theater, can easily walk in its streets, parks, can easily joke, does not worry about the future. We started with local governments and we will continue to do that.”

WE ARE COMMITTED TO ACCOUNTABILITY IN AN UNACCOUNTABLE ENVIRONMENT

“We are ready and volunteer to be accountable in an unaccountable environment. The question of where the US$ 128 billion went is still hanging. But we don’t want the citizens to ask the question of US$ 128 billion, we want them to ask us the following question when we come to power, and when they do, we will provide the answer: ‘There was a kurus there. There were 10 liras there. There was 100 liras here. Where have you spent it?’ We will absolutely welcome these questions. We’ll answer every one of them. This is the new politics … Ethical politics.”
