After the decision of the Council of State, Hagia Sophia was converted to mosque and opened for worship with Friday prayers held on July 24.

And most recently a new dress code required for entrance of ladies to the mosque was announced by authority in charge. Accordingly, ladies are not allowed to enter to the mosque without a headscarf. Also, shorts or revealing clothes (dekolte) are not accepted to be suitable for entry, either.

For those who do not have suitable clothes, stands were installed at the entrance of the mosque, while at the points of sale, overalls (Tulum) are sold for TL 20 and headscarves for TL 5. Officers guide visitors not dressed accordingly to the stands at the entrance to the mosque
