ELECTRONIC PAYMENT

A new era of security is arriving in digital banking as the government prepares to strengthen protection against fraud in electronic payment systems.

Digital payment fraud has been rising sharply in recent years, prompting authorities to introduce tighter safeguards. One of the most significant upcoming steps is the integration of biometric verification into customer identification processes used by banks.

A New Layer of Protection Against Payment Fraud

To prevent crimes such as copying customer information and draining bank accounts, biometric data will soon be added to electronic payment tools. With this change, individuals will be able to make payments more comfortably and securely using their unique physical characteristics.

According to reports, this new layer of verification may include voice identification, fingerprint scanning, facial recognition and iris scanning. These native and unique traits will become part of the banking system, strengthening identity security in every transaction.

Legal Changes on the Way

A planned amendment to the Law on Payment Services and Electronic Money Institutions will make biometric identification an official part of customer profiles used for credit cards and other digital payment instruments. This means every user’s customer identity record may include biometric features linked directly to their own physical characteristics.

Voice Recognition Advantage for Seniors

The voice recognition system is expected to be especially useful for older individuals, particularly those over the age of 65 who may not use smartphones actively. Fraudsters often target this age group, making a simple audio-based verification step an important new layer of protection.

The regulation is expected to be included in the Eleventh Judicial Reform Package.
