Biontech partner says cancer vaccines based on mRNA will be ready in a few years

Ozlem TURECI of BIONTECH who developed the corona virus vaccine together with her spouse and partner Ugur SAHIN made critical statements to the US media. She said, “We have different cancer vaccines based on mRNA. We’ll be ready to offer them to people in a few years.”

As the corona virus continues to take lives around the world, Ugur SAHIN and his wife Ozlem TURECI, who developed the first approved vaccine, do not fall off the agenda of the international media.

The couple who received an award from Axel Springer the previous day and were awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany at a ceremony attended by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday, were the subject of the New York Post for their mRNA work.

The newspaper wrote the couple, who normally do Cancer Research on mRNA, had developed the vaccine within 11 months of the outbreak of the corona virus.

It was explained in the New York Post that in the mRNA system synthetic RNA molecules injected into the body delivered information to the immune system that allowed the production of proteins to fight the virus.
