Bodrum, one of the most important tourism centers of the world and Turkey, has reached a record in the number of domestic and foreign visitors this year. Bodrum, known as Halicarnassus in history, and described as “the land of eternal blues” by poet Homer, who lived in ancient times, stands out as one of the favorite destinations of tourists every season of the year.

Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras has said they have exceeded the figures of 2019 this year and that they aim to reach one and a half million visitors by the end of the year.

BODRUM REACHES 1,150,000 VISITORS AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER

Aras noted that the number of people entering Bodrum by sea and air at the end of September had amounted to one million 150 thousand, adding “So we have achieved our goal in the first 3 quarters of the year. According to 2019, these figures are a record for us. We hope that the number of tourists will reach the targeted figures in the last 3 months.”

4 MILLION DOMESTIC TOURISTS COME TO BODRUM IN A YEAR

Aras pointed out that domestic tourists were at the forefront of Bodrum more than foreigners and said, “About 4 million domestic tourists come to Bodrum throughout the year. If you think about both those who have summer homes and those who stay in hotels on the one hand, our tourism movement reaches 6 million per year.”
