Borsa Istanbul loses 0.86 percent, finishing the day at 8,259.27 points

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul lost 0.86% and closed the day at 8,259.27 points. The BIST 100 index decreased by 71.37 points today, with a total trading volume of 159.2 billion Turkish liras.

The banking index lost 1.23%, while the holding index lost 0.91%. The insurance sector was the biggest gainer with 1.54%, while the information technology sector was the biggest loser, dropping by 3.15%.

In the United States, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) exceeded market expectations in September, with a monthly increase of 0.4% and an annual increase of 3.7%. In the week ending October 7, the number of initial jobless claims in the country was below market expectations, at 209,000.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that international airports in Damascus and Aleppo simultaneously went out of service during Israel’s attack on Syria.

Analysts stated that concerns about the Israel-Palestine conflict spreading to a wider region have led to volatile movements in global stock markets.

Analysts also mentioned that in addition to the high uncertainty regarding the economic outlook emphasized in the Fed’s meeting minutes, the CPI and weekly jobless claims data from the U.S. have made the central bank cautious. They noted that the Israel-Palestine conflict continues to cause anxiety worldwide.

Tomorrow, the domestic economic agenda is expected to be calm, while in international markets, analysts highlighted speeches by Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank (ECB), as well as inflation and trade balance data in China, industrial production in the Eurozone, and the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment Index in the U.S. From a technical perspective, analysts noted that the BIST 100 index has support at 8,200 points and resistance at 8,500 and 8,600 levels.
