In a joint statement from both countries, it was announced that Ukraine has agreed to a 30-day emergency ceasefire in its conflict with Russia during talks with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia.

The U.S. and Ukrainian delegations met today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The discussions focused on continuing military aid to Ukraine and potential compromises in a possible agreement with Russia. The meeting, led by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, lasted for nine hours.

Ukraine Agrees to Ceasefire

In a statement from the U.S., the talks were described as constructive, and it was confirmed that Ukraine is ready for a 30-day temporary ceasefire. Additionally, both parties agreed to sign a precious metals agreement as soon as possible.

Proposal to be Presented to Russia

Rubio stated that he would take the proposal to Russia and emphasized that the ball is now in Moscow’s court. The U.S. also confirmed that intelligence sharing with Kyiv will continue.

The statement added, “The United States will convey to Russia that Russia’s reciprocity is key to achieving peace.”

The U.S. also announced that it would immediately lift the suspension on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.

Both sides further stated that Washington and Kyiv have agreed to finalize a comprehensive agreement for the development of Ukraine’s critical mineral resources, which had been delayed due to uncertainties surrounding a recent tough meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House last week.
