‘Dictator without elections’: Trump ups attacks on Zelenskyy
In a post on Truth Social, Trump has kicked his attacks on Zelenskyy into overdrive.
He claimed the Ukrainian leader “talked the United State of America into” spending billions of dollars in military aid and accused Zelenskyy of playing the Biden administration “like a fiddle”.
He again said the war in Ukraine, which began with Russia’s invasion, “never had to start”, while criticising the Biden administration for not putting more pressure on Europe to bear a larger load of support to Kyiv.
In his most striking statement, Trump criticised last year’s suspension of elections in Ukraine, which remains under martial law. He called Zelenskyy “a dictator without elections”. Trump added: “I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues.”
