BRISA, Turkey’s tyre company determined to get more share in international markets

BRISA is a tyre production company operating as part of the SABANCI Group, one of the few largest conglomerates in Turkey. The group operates in several sectors such as finance, textile, chemicals, automotive and education etc.

Actually it is a joint venture between BRIDGESTONE and SABANCI GROUP and most recently the company has built production facilities in Aksaray, Turkey with an investment of US$ 300 million.

The company which was established 30 years ago as a joint venture between the two companies, opened its second production facility after the first one in Izmit. New generation technologies such as data analytics and digitalization with Industry 4.0 applications are used in the factory. Among the applications are intelligent simultaneous tracking of the production with the digital twin in the factory, environmentally friendly indoor systems, green building applications, augmented reality. The factory has been designed to provide 4.2 million tires and 700 employees at full capacity.

Thus, after Petlas established in Kırşehir in 1976, Sumitomo Tire Factory established with a Turkish-Japanese partnership in Çankırı in 2015 with a 516 million dollar investment, the region has become a hub for tyre production together with this most recent investment.

The management has adopted the target to focus on exports in specific and also to increase production to 15 million units, in close future.
