British Holidaymakers Increasingly Prefer Package Tours, Jet2 Survey Finds

A new consumer survey conducted by British tour operator and airline Jet2 has revealed that travelers are increasingly turning to package holidays during periods of uncertainty. According to the research, the number of people choosing package tours has risen significantly since February.

The survey, carried out in May with more than 1,000 participants, suggests that holidaymakers are prioritizing convenience, financial value, and additional protection offered through a single travel provider.

Package Holiday Demand Continues to Rise

According to the findings, the percentage of travelers choosing package holidays increased by 5 points compared to February, reaching 51 percent.

At the same time, the number of consumers preferring to book different parts of their trips separately through multiple providers fell by 6 points to 20 percent. The percentage of people booking accommodation only also dropped to just 2 percent.

The results indicate that travelers are increasingly looking for simplified and secure travel planning options.

Price Advantage and Convenience Lead Preferences

Among the main reasons behind the growing popularity of package holidays were “price advantage” and “convenience,” both selected by 36 percent of respondents.

In addition, the percentage of travelers who cited “extra security and protection through a single provider” as a key reason for choosing package tours increased by 4 points since February, reaching 26 percent.

The findings reflect growing consumer interest in financial predictability and travel security amid ongoing economic uncertainty.

Jet2 Removes Additional Charges

Jet2 also announced that it has become the first British airline and tour operator to remove clauses allowing additional surcharges on existing flight and holiday bookings due to rising operational costs such as fuel prices.

Although the company stated that it had not previously applied such surcharges, it confirmed that the extra fee clause has now been completely removed from all flight and holiday packages.

Jet2 Chief Executive Steve Heapy said travelers seek reassurance during uncertain periods and that package holidays provide that confidence. He added that the company aims to strengthen customer trust ahead of the busy summer travel season.

New Jersey Routes Added for Summer Season

Jet2 also announced an expansion of its Jersey operations for next summer.

The company is adding new routes to Jersey from Birmingham and Bristol while also increasing capacity from Manchester. In addition, the airline confirmed that its Jersey season will be extended, with flights continuing until the end of October.
