Central Bank reveals new sign for Turkish Lira
Brand new Turkish Lira sign revealed
The new Turkish Lira sign was revealed by ERDEM TAŞÇI (Chief of Turkish Central Bank) at a press conference today.
The new sign was the winner out of 8,362 entries submitted to a country-wide contest.
The meeting to showcase the new sign had been initially scheduled for Feb. 22 but was postponed due to technical difficulties.
PM Erdoğan also attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
First cooments on the sign was fairly negative saying it resembled British Sterling Pound and it could cause confusion.
Turkey has taken some giant steps to strengthen its money since AKP took office 9 years ago.
