Chelsea finally European Champions in football
After many years of agony Chelsea were able to lift the European Cup at Munich Arena stadium yesterday (19.05.2012).
To start of with, it is amazing to see how destiny can tease us.. Because when Maurinho was coaching Chelsea this team was ever so strong and in fact grabbed the Premier League title after many years. However Maurinho the best trainer in the world for certain was not given the honor treating Chelsea fans the European cup.
Now it is Di Matteo who has been able to achieve this honor and maybe with a “weaker” team than the one at Maurinho’s time..So, we congratulate Di Matteo and Chelsea players with all our heart, not to forget Abramovich either..
As for the game, it was very challenging without many chances missed. Bayern was better throughout the whole game which ended 1-1 draw and Chelsea came back in the extra time. Goals were scored by Müller and Drogba.
Had Cech not saved the penalty by Robben in the extra time, Chelsea would have had to go back home with empty hands.
Didier Drogba scored the decisive penalty in a shootout as Chelsea became Europe’s club champion for the first time.
The often-theatrical Drogba, 34, playing possibly his last game for the English Premier League club as his contract expires next month, was at the heart of the show.
