While the corona virus has regained momentum in many countries, the spread of the disease among young people has mobilized experts. One in four people infected with the corona virus develop pneumonia, a study in South Korea has revealed.

While the number of people infected with the corona virus has exceeded 30 million in the world, cases in many countries have begun to spread, especially among young people. In the first period of the outbreak, the virus had spread rapidly among older people. However, in the last period the age range has gradually fallen. Experts are warning for people to understand the severity of the situation.

One of the studies in this context was carried out in South Korea. In a study conducted some universities, the rate of spread and symptoms of the disease among young people were examined. Experts who examined 315 corona virus patients in the 18-39 age range found that 26 percent of these people developed pneumonia. Some of the patients in this group, which is equivalent to one in every 4 people, did not even have symptoms.

2 percent of patients were reported to have advanced pneumonia, and these people were attached to a respirator. The researchers also announced that they will share the detailed results of the study at the European Conference on Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.

The World Health Organization also issues frequent warnings about rising cases among young people. Who’s Western Pacific Regional Director has said the corona virus is spread by people in their 20s, 30s and 40s, and most were unaware they had contracted the disease. The director also said, “This increases the risk of more vulnerable people getting sick, such as the elderly, people receiving long-term care, people living in densely populated and underserved places.”
