Cost of living in Istanbul for a family reaches 48,000 Turkish Lira per month

The cost of living in Istanbul for a family has reached 48,000 Turkish Lira per month, according to a study by the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) released on December 5, 2023, at 17:13.

According to the research, the cost of living in Istanbul has increased by 3.35% compared to the previous month and by 72.10% compared to December of the previous year.

Compared to November of the previous year, the annual increase in the cost of living in Istanbul was calculated as 78.48%.

In November, the average cost of living for a four-person family in Istanbul was measured at 47,493 Turkish Lira per month, showing an increase of 1,537 Lira compared to October.

Some commonly used household items saw significant price increases compared to November of the previous year, with olive prices experiencing a striking 173.59% increase. The price of chicken meat also saw a 113.5% increase over the course of the year.
