Court cancels zoning plan amendment opening 1.1 million m2 of land to construction in Bodrum

In the case filed in the Council of State for the Treasury land of 1.1 million square meters, which was opened for reconstruction by presidential decree in Ortakent Neighborhood of Bodrum district of Muğla and transferred to the Privatization Administration for sale, a decision that pleased the residents of Bodrum came out.

Bodrum Environmental Organizations, NGOs and Bodrum Municipality filed a lawsuit to cancel the decision in order to stop the opening and sale of 1.1 million square meters of Treasury land, which was first opened for reconstruction and then given to the Privatization Administration for sale in Ortakent Neighborhood of Bodrum district of Muğla by Presidential Decree last year.

Environmental organizations, Mugla CHP deputies and NGOs repeatedly held actions and protested the privatization and opening of the lands located right in the middle of the Bodrum Peninsula, in which there are natural and archaeological sites, for reconstruction.

COUNCIL OF STATE CANCELED PRESIDENTIAL DECISION

In a written statement made by Bodrum Municipality, it was announced that the zoning plan amendment, decided by the President was canceled by the Council of State, thanks to the filed lawsuit.

The Municipality shared following in a statement: “Thus, we have saved more than 1 million square meters of area in our Ortakent Neighborhood and our natural values on it from being concreted and Bodrum from being dispossessed”.
