Criminal charge against markets and suppliers for ‘forming a cartel’

In the competition investigation about 20 companies that are manufacturers, suppliers and retailers, the oral defense stage has been started. In the said investigation, the establishments are charged with forming a cartel.

The investigation, about 15 manufacturers and suppliers operating in the fast-moving consumer goods sector and five retailers have reached the stage of oral defense.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Competition Board Chairman Birol Kule said that the establishments will be heard for two days in groups, on December 6-7, in order to ensure the integrity of the defenses.

The representative of the investigation committee also recalled that “agreements and actions between enterprises that have the purpose of directly or indirectly blocking, disrupting or restricting competition in a particular market of goods or services, or that have or may have this effect, as well as such decisions and decisions of the associations of enterprises are prohibited by law”.
