Dean of Medicine Faculty of Istanbul says epidemic has resumed in mega city

As the picture of the corona virus worsens day by day, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Istanbul University Dr. TUFAN TUKEK has made an important statement saying, “We can say that the outbreak has resumed for Istanbul. 15 percent of corona tests conducted in Çapa has turned out to be positive.

The first case of the epidemic was seen in Turkey on March 11 and it is now observed to be increasing its effect. After the bans in June were lifted the number of cases increased again, as expressed by Professor Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Istanbul .

Highlighting the increase in the number of cases, the professor said; “81 of the 530 tests conducted in Çapa hospital were positive. The positivity rate has passed 15%. From now on, we can say that the epidemic has started again for Istanbul. It has to do with young people mainly and unfortunately the rate of pneumonia is high. I’m not writing to demoralize you, I’m writing to take precautions. Or everyone will be upset”.

After a cabinet meeting last week, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had declared that standing passengers on public transport would definitely not be allowed in all provinces.” (sözcü)
