PROTESTS IN IRAN DEATH PENALTY

After the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in Iran due to violence by the morality police, known as the “Irshad patrols,” tension in Iran is not dropping. The number of detained protesters reached 15 thousand, while the Iranian Parliament rolled up its sleeves for the death penalty.

International news agencies wrote as the demonstrations in the country escalated, the Iranian Parliament overwhelmingly voted in favor of the death penalty for protesters. Since the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16, there have been unprecedented levels of protests and uprisings in Iran.

Following Amini’s death, nationwide protests continue to take place on a scale the country has not seen in decades. In particular, female protesters are burning their headscarves and cutting their hair, contrary to the rules set by the Iranian regime led by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
