Deputy Interior Minister announces number of foreigners in Turkey

Deputy Minister of Interior and Ministry Spokesman Ismail Çataklı reported that the total number of foreigners in Turkey was 5 million 239 thousand 426.

Çataklı, Deputy Minister of Interior, stated on his social media account that there were 3 million 577 thousand 714 Syrians under temporary protection throughout the country.

Çataklı noted that there were a total of 3 million 896 thousand 431 asylum seekers in Turkey, 318 thousand 717 of which were within the scope of international protection, and stated that 1 million 342 thousand 995 people lived as residents.

Çataklı said, “Thus, the total number of foreigners in our country is 5 million 239 thousand 426. 1 million 22 thousand 703 of them are primary, secondary, high school and university students.”
