Deputy Speaker of TOBB says elderly tourism will boom after pandemic outbreak

The deputy speaker of the Health Services of Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) has warned regarding the elderly and health tourism that will occur immediately after the pandemic.

Emphasizing that Turkey has a great potential in terms of elderly, disabled and health tourism, he said: “Turkey is capable of providing health and care services to elderly Europeans. Already with aggressive advertising and investments, plans should be made that highlight health and residential care services, culture and spa tourism.”

NO QUALIFIED STAFF

He emphasized that in developed countries, large investments had been made to provide quality care to the elderly population and added, “Due to the lack of qualified personnel, Europe will start sending its elderly to other countries to live a more active and happy life”, noting that Turkey should aspire to this prospect.

THERE IS A BIG MARKET

He also said “According to World Health Organization data, the elderly population in the world in 2050 will reach 2 billion. The economic burden that aging in the world will bring will reveal the diversity of tourism between countries. This is seen as a huge market for Aged Care, thermal, medical and even nursing services.”
