Economy in Turkey: Huge hike in cigarette prices!
Özgür Aybaş, President of Tekel Dealers Platform, announced that a 5 lira increase had been made for the cigarette group called KT&G, which owns the Esse brand.
While the economic crisis in Turkey is multiplying the costs, news of increases in many sectors continue to come after the election. Cigarette fees were increased by 5 TL last month. Despite the fact that only a month has passed, another cigarette group has updated its prices.

Aybaş, who noted that new hikes could be made to other cigarette groups within a few days, said “A 5-lira hike has been made to the Esse group. It will be valid from tomorrow. We expect a raise for other smoking groups in a few days as well.”

Stating that the hikes will continue in the coming months, Aybaş said that there is also a high expectation of a hike in alcoholic products.
Aybaş spoke as follows: “Cost hike, company hike, exchange rate hike are all going to be realized. There will be a high rate of increase in alcoholic products. Because every 6 months, excise duty is increased on both alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.”
