Economy in Turkey: Kuzu Port in Gökçeada to be put up for privatization

Here are the privatization details in the 2024 budget submitted to the Parliament… The AK Party, which has collected approximately 140 billion TL of the 144.2 billion TL privatization revenue over the past 37 years, will continue with the sales in the budget for 2023, as indicated by the budget submitted to the Parliament.

Among the places to be privatized is the strategically important Kuzu Port in Gökçeada.

According to Mustafa Çakır’s report in Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the data related to privatization in the 2024 budget submitted to the Parliament is as follows:

Between 1986 and 2023, approximately 140 billion TL of the 144.2 billion TL privatization revenue was generated during the AKP period.

This year, there are 11 hydroelectric power plants (HES) in the privatization portfolio, and preparations are ongoing in this context.

In the process of preparing for the public offering of Turkey Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ), 23 meetings were held with major country funds with headquarters in the USA, the UK, Sweden, and Australia, as well as infrastructure funds investing in these companies.

The privatization of Fenerbahçe-Kalamış Yacht Port will be completed in 2024.

Çanakkale Gökçeada Kuzu Port will be put up for auction.

Properties in Marmaraereğlisi, Tekirdağ, and Tekirdağ Çeşmeli Port will be privatized.

A total of 8 highways and 2 bridges, along with their facilities, will be privatized.

Out of 18 publicly-owned social facilities, 3 have already been privatized, and the remaining ones will also be privatized.

Apart from privatizations, properties owned by the Treasury that are legally and practically suitable for sale will continue to be sold through auctions in accordance with the State Tender Law and various special legal provisions.
